Ellice, his mother, wants him to attend a prominent school where he will study more academics than art, and she emphasizes all of the new school's special features. Jordan's father, Chuck, is more supportive of Jordan and his creative abilities, although he is concerned that his son's school is not diverse enough. Chuck gives Jordan a present on his first day of school. Jordan is given some guidance on how to stand up for himself and how to properly meet people. Jordan gets picked up by Liam, his school guide, in a large Hummer. Mr. Lander, the school guide's father, is concerned about Jordan's neighborhood and instructs Liam to lock the doors. Jordan's first interaction with Liam revealed that Liam has a nasty attitude toward people. Liam then takes Jordan to the main building corridors to check on Jordan's locker. He sees Maury, one of Liam's old pals, going by them happily, but Sidekick, Winston, and Eric creep up behind him and taunt Maury by calling him Maury-O, which sounds like OREO's black and white (Racists).
